Built for Michigan's Climate

Michigan's changing seasons can be tough on masonry. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles, heavy rainfall, humidity, and shifting soil all contribute to cracked mortar joints, deteriorating brick, and water intrusion. Left untreated, minor damage can quickly become more expensive structural problems.

Our experienced masons understand how local weather affects brick and stone construction. We use proven repair methods and quality materials designed to withstand Michigan's climate while helping homeowners avoid costly repairs in the future. Every project is completed with long-term durability in mind, giving you confidence that your investment will continue performing for years to come.

See what others had to say!

The folks at Omega are top-notch. They are friendly, responsive, respectful, helpful, and they deliver quality work! Every call I placed, got a call back. They fit-in an urgent part of our project early before they were scheduled to do the rest, which is more than I can say for all the other groups in town being booked out for months! These were the ONLY folks who called us back about siding work and chimney flashing. Now the squirrels can't get in anymore, our rotten siding is gone and replaced, and they primed the new siding for free! Highly recommend Omega for your construction needs. (Also, they started off as a chimney/mortar company, so call them up for your chimney needs!!)

Al and his crew are top notch. I've had Omega out several times to do work for me, and each time they did a great job. They rebuilt my chimney and inserted two liners into it. When the collar around the chimney started cracking and was still under warranty, they immediately came out and put on a new one, no questions asked. Al is great at keeping the lines of communication open, and he is easy to work with. Their workmanship is top notch--I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend Omega!!

What a pleasure working with Al, Marquis and Paul. They replaced my leaking chimney chase cover. Al took the time to sketch out how the cover is supposed to work and how the existing cover failed. Took him an hour and a half to measure an exact fit. Marquis and Paul were great on the install. Cleaned up all the debris , even measured exactly the dimensions for the screw attaching points. I haven't seen pride to detail like that in a long time. Even took pictures to show me the work they did. Call Al and company for your next project.

Quality Craftsmanship That Lasts

Every masonry project begins with a careful inspection of the existing structure. We identify the source of deterioration, evaluate the condition of surrounding materials, and recommend repairs that address the root cause rather than only the visible damage.

Whether we are replacing damaged brick, rebuilding deteriorated mortar joints, restoring historic stonework, or constructing new masonry features, our goal is always the same: to provide durable workmanship that complements your home's architecture and protects its structural integrity.

Our attention to detail extends beyond the finished appearance. Proper material selection, mortar matching, moisture management, and structural reinforcement all play an important role in creating repairs that perform as well as they look.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my masonry needs repair?

Common signs include cracked or loose bricks, crumbling mortar joints, water intrusion, leaning walls, white staining known as efflorescence, or deteriorating stone surfaces. Addressing these issues early can help prevent more extensive and costly repairs.

What is tuckpointing, and when is it needed?

Tuckpointing is the process of removing damaged mortar and replacing it with new mortar to restore the strength and appearance of brickwork. It is recommended when mortar joints begin cracking, crumbling, or allowing moisture to penetrate the wall.

Does basement waterproofing increase home value?

Basement waterproofing can help protect and enhance home value by addressing a common concern for buyers: water intrusion. Homes with dry, well-maintained basements are generally more attractive to buyers and inspectors, while unresolved moisture problems can lower value or complicate a sale.

How do freeze-thaw cycles affect brick and stone?

Michigan's freeze-thaw cycles allow water to enter small cracks in masonry. As temperatures drop, the water freezes and expands, causing bricks, stone, and mortar joints to crack or deteriorate over time. Professional repairs help restore the structure and reduce future damage.

Do you offer masonry contractor services near me?

Yes. Omega Construction provides professional masonry services throughout Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, and many surrounding Michigan communities. If you are looking for experienced local masonry contractors, contact us to schedule a free estimate.

Can damaged brick be repaired instead of replaced?

Yes. In many cases, individual damaged or deteriorating bricks can be repaired or replaced without rebuilding an entire wall or structure. Our experienced masons carefully inspect the surrounding masonry to determine the most effective and cost-efficient solution while preserving the appearance and structural integrity of your home.
